You can get them at most book stores, larger chains most definitely have them. There were a few I used, but I could only dig up 2 books from the basement.
One is from "Learning Express" called aptly Firefighter Exam.
The other is from Davis Publishing, Alabama Fire College called
Firefighters Entrance Handbook.
Another one I think I had was from Barron's.
Anyway, they are all pretty much the same ... mechanical apptitude, reading comprehension, memory and the dreaded MATH!!!! (I hated math).
Hope this helps a little.

If you're looking for aguide to help you with Fire -etc aptitude tests, just buy yourself a GED book, it's all grade 12 level questions other than the mechanical reasoning stuff.

I found the best by far were the books entitled, Essentials of Firefighting and it's study guide. At a bit over $100 for the two it was a good purchase.
At the moment I cannot recall what I wanted the books for whether it was to review and have practice questions for 1001 oriented situations or whether it was for my applications at the time. I had also found a few handy books for aptitude tests etc.

I have a copy of Norman Hall's "Firefighter's Exam Preparation Book" and Barron's "Firefighter Exams" 4th Edition. I don't need them anymore and I would be willing to sell them to anyone who needs them. They're both excellent study guides that have helped me succeed in alot of aptitude tests. I bought the pair from Chapters for about $45. They're in great shape. If anyone's interested, make an offer. They're just gathering dust and I'd rather see them helping out potential recruits.

The best book .. hmmm "Barrons" .. is probably one of the better ones. Theres also a math study guide for these aptitude tests, its made by "Arco" .. they too make fire fighter study guides.

Math made simple- this book will prepare you for any math related problems on the aptitude test (CPS)
Aptitude test study guides? Anyone know of any?
Barrons is one of the worst. Arco is one of the better ones.

Where does everyone buy their books? I would prefer to use a Canadian company if it's possible. Right now I am browsing www.firebooks.com.

BAD idea. You could very easily get eaten alive. It's better to get in fair and square. You may still have people bug you if you know somebody/something but if you don't use it unfairly then they will have no support. If you do use it, you're all alone and that would get awefully lonely.
