How does there volunteer service work? Do you have to be within a certain response time, or is it shifts/live in?

Normally volunteers live in their community and respond to calls by pager..practice weekly or the odd weekend for extra coarse training or recerts..it is not a live in or shift..department.

I think you're rolling with the wrong logo/avatar if you're looking at getting on a volly department... All in the IAFF have it pretty good as fulltimer's - why not leave the volly positions for guys who haven't had the opporunity to take a fulltime FF job yet.

I was thinking the same thing Breaker, get rid of the IAFF logo if your gonna go the volly direction.

Listen, if you are an IAFF member looking to be a volunteer, you should know better. Secondly if you are not, I take offence to your use of that avatar. I am a member and pay alot of money in dues for the right to display that symbol. I am also very proud to be able to say that I am a IAFF member and the various things that that symbol represents.

OOoo OOOooo let me get a jab in please. Come on fellas take it easy on the lil fella'
He does'nt mean any harm he just wants on the team with the boys. I mean really, do we need to gang up on a guy just because he posts a union label on his profile, probably has a union sticker on his windshield, wears a union ball cap out whenever he can and last but not least DEFINITELY wears ANY F.F. t-shirt he can get his hands on to the local gym to impress everyone? Do we, do we really?

Sorry, I can't help it... Not really sure what's wrong with me?

Thought you guy's would enjoy that one :)

Thanks fellers, sorry for the misunderstanding. Got hired a couple months after that post. More of a lurker than a poster so I didn't bother to mention the change in career status. lol
