Not sure about all but if you have Fire Fighter 2 that is, as per the post... Does anyone have the exact wording for NFPA 1582, I know my hearing is fine but I want to double check the sight.

pay is good, same as most ontario depts, hiring about 6-10, each year for the next 3, chief is set on having one female applicant get on, since they have none. Theres a few local girls here that will fill that bill for sure. they're strict on applicants having all the relevant certs this time around. lots of local competition especially from fredericton, since they have a bunch of young casuals with all their certs that wont see full-time for years.

That's pretty much how it is for police in that area... New Brunswick is your only officially bilingual province in the country.

UH, over here too in MB. Officially bilingual. Cost the Province and the City of Winnipeg a whack of coin when it came to light back in the late '70's. ALL legislation is passed and presented in English and French.

Their whole province has been officially bilingual since 1969, not sure about the city of Moncton, but Ottawa has only been officially bilingual since about three years ago... maybe four, pretty much just before this English speaking girl needed to find another job.. ouch!

Parts of Ontario and Manitoba as well, other than that, the rest of the country is Officially English with the exception of Quebec which is officially French. There... now I know! hahaha!!

The testing in Musquash is similar to the CPAT, Moncton University is the only place I've seen so far in NB that offer the York.

I got my call last friday, ill be heading up there this tuesday for the 5th. They interviewed 2 days this week, tues and wed, and will be having two more days on the 5th and the 6th. Mini is right about having level I and II under your belt, or they wont even consider you. Also a medic out there told me they having about 20 interviews for 10 positions now, one reserved for a female. Good luck to you guys.

Are you serious?? As in a guaranteed job for the best female applicant. Regardless of where she stands overall??..........BC...............

I'd hate to be the candidate that gets bumped out of the competition for another person that was ranked behind me after the recruit process. These kinds of things are very sketchy IMHO. So if someone is ranked 20th on the list, they could get bumped out for a female that is 25th? What ever happened to the BEST candidate getting the job regardless of age, sex, race, religion etc etc etc...

the word is there really set on having a woman get on this round since she would be first in the history of the department, whether or not that equates to hiring one who is less qualified just to meet that agenda is uncertain.

yeah I'm not worried about having the courses... I've got those passed the york no problem... I'm just curious cause I know a guy who applied but didn't send anything up and they called and requested his information. so who knows what'll happen... Meh either way I'm glad to have at least gone through the york... when I applied to Fredericton I send everything up and then got PFO'd not even a phone call.

Havent heard back yet, might call this week sometime. Know of only one person who got a call back after the interview, they said he made it through to the next level and would hear again from them in two weeks, this was about a week ago. Great guy many years experience full-time at a local department. Was a great experience, the 5 person panel was a shock...yikes.
