Firefighters needed in and around Sooke

SOOKE, BC - The fire departments in Sooke, East Sooke, Otter Point and Shirley are sending out an SOS. The fire departments, most staffed by volunteers, are in critical need of new recruits. The volunteer base has been shrinking while the emergency calls have been expanding. Traditionally the number of emergency calls to the fire department in Sooke was 200, last year they received 608 calls and this year they expect the number to be close to 750.

Hmmmmm..... Sooke is pretty nice....... I wonder if I can get property out there....

Go for it 26 they have a very good department AND they aren't afraid of experienced firefighters.

I was a member of the Sooke FD and they had a great group of guy and ladies when i was out there and i would go back to them in a heart beat. I loved the trainning i got with them and they are involved in the comunity activities.

It can't be any worse that when the ferries aren't running :D :cool:

Besides, the emergency co-ordinator had it all figured out... if we needed to get someone into town for medical reasons we would just load them into the biggest fire truck available and drive through the flooded out roads.... maybe next time we could use the 109 food aerial to simply reach across the flood zone :rolleyes:

Besides, our new recruiting plan took care of our shortage of firefighters, at least for the time being!

Hopefully those higher-up than me will consider our proposed changes for next year and develop a 2009 recruiting plan!

If you are going to join Sooke FD make sure you join the #2 hall as its the best of the two hands down!!

Actually, part of our proposal for 2009 was to specifically target the "2 hall area" - even if it means resorting to physically going door to door...

...or at the very least kidnapping random people off the street and subjecting them to countless hours of brainwashing until we have a massive army of drooling zombies, staggering around saying "Mmmmm..... 2 hall....." :D :afraid:
