We have finished the new Firehall.com server and have started to move its services, starting with the site itself. This site update includes a forum upgrade, enhanced webmail and a fancy new chat. We'll be adding a few more features over the next couple days (we might get that spell checker yet) and will be launching our new mail system, which will actually block spam now:o . There are probably a few bugs to work out, you know the drill: contact us here (http://www.firehall.com/contact.php) if anything isn't working.

The new look is awesome! Small question though, how come the site does not remember me when I log back in after an absence. Not huge just different to have to enter name and password.

Nice to see everything didn't come to grinding halt over night. There are a few areas that need polishing, but I'm glad you all like what has been done so far.

Someday, when bandwidth is cheaper. Videos eat up bandwidth, so it is best to post videos on a site like video.google.com or youtube.com and link them here. Those guys can afford it (youtube is reported to have a million dollar bandwidth expense every month:eek:).

I'll look into it, but you may have some security software or setting that is removing your browser cookies when you close. Was it working before?

Yea, that still needs to get fixed. The new stats should give a bit more info about what is going on in the chat.

I think that all issues with login (not remembering login, non-persistent login cross services) should be resolved now. It may act funny until you clear all of your cookies and restart your browser. Let me know if you notice any other issues with login.

We have completed the migration of our mail service to the new server. The new service now includes heavy SPAM and virus protection (that actually works!). We expect a junk mail reduction of 80 to 90%. Messages that are thought to be SPAM are tagged and placed in the "Junk" folder. This allows a quick review of tagged messages and easy removal with the "Delete All" option in that folder.
If you currently have a mailbox that is full of SPAM and would like us to help you clear it out contact us (http://www.firehall.com/contact.php). We would be interested to hear from members who normally receive a large amount of SPAM.
Any email accounts that have not been logged into within the last couple months have been removed. If you would like to re-enable your account drop us a line. (http://www.firehall.com/contact.php)
The Firehall mail was the original member feature of the site. We hope that these improvements will restore it as one of our most used features.

There is a "click here" link at the top of the news section that will display only the headlines. You may also set your front page default to display in a headline only format under "Edit User Details" on the main page.

....We'll be adding a few more features over the next couple days (we might get that spell checker yet)
We now have a spell checker that works in all browsers!!! It can be found next to the "Preview Post" buttons when creating a new thread or reply. It may be missing from some areas, if you find a place where the "Spell Check" button should be but doesn't appear to exist let us know.

Did you have anything that wasn't spelled right? It might not do anything if there is nothing wrong with the spelling.

A simple solution can be found by installing the add on "i.e. spell" to any internet explorer based browser. The is a similar extension for Firefix, but I can't remember the name now. These little apps have the added bonus that you dont need to open another page to spell check, they can do it on the fly.
