TRENT HILLS - The Campbellford/Seymour Fire Station is appealing to the community for help in purchasing a First Response Emergency Vehicle for the department. Their goal is to raise $25, 000. The proposed vehicle will be used primarily for medical emergencies and water rescue related calls, says Fire Chief Tim Blake. The vehicle that requires replacement is a 1979 Equipment Van, which houses the jaws-of-life, self-contained breathing apparatus, and fire turnout gear used in motor vehicle, ice water and fire related incidence. It has also been used as a command post at all fire scenes. The van was repaired several years ago as a joint venture with community service clubs. According to Fire Chief Blake, repairing the aging is becoming costly and a first response vehicle will better suit the number of emergency calls that come with an aging population. “The need for upgrading is imperative to ensure prompt response time as well the availability of necessary live or property saving equipment,” he adds.
