On the topic of new recruits, once you have a few prime candidates, do you have any type of written package, or a specific seminar you provide to/for them?? I have been thinking of putting together some type of package for any new members. It will provide them with our rules and reg's, what will be expected of them, what they are allowed to do, or not to due on scene, how the chain of command works, our insurance, pay strucure, etc, etc. Also, I have been thinking of some type of power point presentation, that will have pictures of many of the actual calls we have been on, (nothing sick) but enough to show them what they may be involved in, so that nobody is caught off guard. Idea's??

Sounds like a really good idea Mark... I thought a quick little booklet about the dept/sops/procedures for all ff'ers would be a great thing for a volley hall....

Bernalillo County Fire Department put together a Power Point presentation for thier new recruits. It's pretty, and provides a good frame work that you can change around and add info that you feel is important for new recruits to know.

I can't find the link on the web that a originally got it from, but if your interested PM me and I'll e-mail you a copy. It's a little over 5 MB.
