SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON - A Ministry of Natural Resources firefighter got a rude awakening Wednesday morning when he was bit on the arm by a bear while in his tent in a remote area about 50 kilometres north of Pickle Lake. The firefighter, a fire ranger crew member from the Sioux Lookout District, received only minor injuries in the incident. Hmmm, must have been an older bear.....forgot to put his teeth in.

in all seriousness, though, he was one lucky dude... the crew had all their gear packed up and ready for pickup the next morning (fire had been called out), and the worst damage he received was some bruising and scratches, as well as maybe some brown shorts. everyone on the crew reacted well, fired up the chainsaw, etc etc. MNR circulated a bulletin to all crews outlining the situation in order to dispell rumours... all in all, the best outcome possible.
