Does anyone know what the job situation is like in the states? Is it just as competitive as it is in canada? will they hire Canadians? I'm geussing its just as difficult getting on but it doesnt hurt to ask.

From what I've heard, you have to be an American citizen.

Some US departments require you to be a US citizen will others you need to just be a US resident with a Green card of course.....Cheers:cool:

I'm pretty sure you need to have at least EMCA certification in the state you're applying to. Not too hard to get I imagine, but still it's time and money.
And yes, just as competitive as Canada. I knew some guys who went to Texas A&M, they seemed to think it was easier getting an interview in the States if you went to an american school.

I don't think every state require's EMCA. We had a guy leave our job for a position in Washington State. His wife is American and couldn't work in Canada. And the only qualifications he had were the one's needed when he was hired in BC.....That being said i'm not 100 % sure on the process down south i'm sure it differ's from state to state and from city to city....Cheers...
