GUELPH, ON - Children who go into cardiac arrest will have a better chance of survival thanks to a new pediatric defibrillation program launched by Guelph firefighters last week. All 130 firefighters spread among four platoons spent the last two months training on new equipment used for children ages 1 to 8. The program came into effect June 16. "Defibrillation is the up and coming thing as far as saving lives," said Capt. Bob Fell, who headed the firefighter training and also trains in the community. "If we can save a life, we should have the equipment to do it."Source: guelphtribune.ca (http://www.guelphtribune.ca/trib/news/news_605730.html)

GUELPH, ON - Guelph firefighters have just expanded their life-saving defibrillation program to include young children ages 1 to 8, and the timing couldn't be better. The number 1 cause of cardiac arrest in children is accidents, say firefighters, including road accidents, drowning, choking, electrocution or severe allergic reaction. With summer vacations about to start, road accidents and drownings will be on the rise, and the risk of other accidents increases once children are out of school.Source: guelphtribune.ca (http://www.guelphtribune.ca/trib/viewpoint/viewpoint_605810.html)
