The officers, a male and a female, were shot in the town of Mildred, a small farming community located about 140 kilometres west of Prince Albert, Sask.
They were taken to a Saskatoon hospital and are recovering after undergoing extensive surgery.
Cpl. Keith Bott of the Spiritwood RCMP said the next 48 hours will determine the severity of their injuries.
"They've completed surgery and we've just basically been advised that it's just ... sit back and a waiting game now," Bott told The Canadian Press.
The officers were shot while pursuing a suspect.
According to reports, three officers were investigating an assault complaint at about 9 p.m. when a suspect fled in a vehicle.
The officers reportedly followed the vehicle, and were fired upon when the suspect stopped.
The third, uninjured officer returned fire on the suspect who then fled on foot and is still on the loose.
Police have set up roadblocks, established a no-fly zone and are using a plane as part of efforts to capture the suspect, who is described as armed and dangerous.
"We're trying to keep people out. This individual is considered dangerous for obvious reasons, so we're trying to locate him before he gets back into the public again,'' Bott told CP.
Police were searching for 41-year-old Curtis Alfred Dagenais, who is described as a white male with brown hair and green eyes.
Dagenais, who is five-foot-11 and weighs 158 pounds, was last seen wearing blue jean cutoffs, a short-sleeved shirt and a baseball cap.
Police were asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to call their local RCMP detachment.
The Saskatoon major crimes unit was helping search for Dagenais.
The injured officers are based out of the RCMP detachment in Spiritwood, Sask.
In March 2005, four RCMP officers were shot and killed in Mayerthorpe, Alta. by James Roszko while they were on his property to investigate stolen parts and a marijuana grow operation.
Roszko then took his own life.
Just came across this - lets hope these officers have a speedy recovery and get home to their families soon!
Catch this guy and hang em!

What horrible news. Two more young officers responding to a domestic; a call with the potential to be the most dangerous these days. What an absolute shame. Rest easy Constables Bourdages and Cameron.

They need to catch these a$$holes and start making an example of them. Strongquill in Russell, joke for punishment, member shot on number one by Portage la Prairie, guy pled out, 4 in Alberta, guy killed himself. Rumour is this guy has probably taken the easy way out.
Where is the deterrent and respect for the police force as a whole.
Rest easy now, you have served your country and fellow citizens with honour. Thank you to you and your families for your sacrifice.

DEATH OF RCMP MEMBERS
Saskatchewan RCMP and the Cameron and Bourdages families are saddened to report the deaths of Constable Marc Bourdages and Constable Robin Cameron of the Spiritwood RCMP Detachment. Robin Cameron died Saturday evening at 11 pm and Constable Marc Bourdages at approximately 1:15 this morning. Both died as a result of severe head injuries sustained in a shooting incident on Friday, July 7. Robin and Marc received excellent medical care, however, they have succumbed to their injuries.
Marc was 26 years old, married to a fellow RCMP officer and the father of a nine month old boy. Robin was 29 years old and a single mother to an 11 year old girl. The families, everyone in the RCMP and the community of Spiritwood are grieving this loss. Saint Eustache, Quebec, Marc’s home town, and Beardy’s and Okemasis First Nation, where Robin grew up, are also mourning.
We are all tremendously saddened by today’s news. Marc and Robin were dedicated and much loved members of our RCMP family. We will continue to support both families through this difficult time.
There will be regimental funerals and those arrangements are underway.
Robin and Marc will never be forgotten and their sacrifice is something we all honour on behalf of the Canadians we serve.

HALIFAX, NS - After placing an eagle feather below the picture of a fallen comrade during a memorial service in Halifax yesterday for two Saskatchewan RCMP officers killed in the line of duty, a Nova Scotia RCMP officer choked back emotions at the significance. "The eagle is the bird that takes our spirit to the creator," said Cpl. Steve Gloade, a Millbrook First Nations member. Gloade participated in a sombre ceremony commemorating the lives of Const. Marc Bourdages, 26, and Const. Robin Cameron, 29.Source: hfxnews.ca (http://www.hfxnews.ca/index.cfm?sid=7059&sc=2)
