NATIONAL - Comparatively, Canada has escaped unscathed in the realm of major natural disasters and terrorist attacks , but experts predict that it's only a matter of time before the big one hits. DISASTER is no stranger to Canada. It has come by raging forest fire, relentless ice storm, surging flood, the slow steady flow of tainted tap water and a single Mad Cow. The emotional impact can be incalculable. The economic damage is often staggering. Lives are often lost. "But what about next time?" a Senate committee asked recently.Source: ottsun.canoe.ca (http://ottsun.canoe.ca/News/National/2006/07/09/1675289-sun.html)

Not really, thats why when they happen they are called disasters.

We could be much better prepared of course, but we could also turn into totally paranoid xenophobes like our neighbours to the south

I was always thinking the same thing. I have this inane fear that all Canadian emergency workers are gonna be standing there looking at an area hit by a natural disaster or a place leveled by a terrorist attack going "Man, did we ever get f*<ked."

It doesnt matter how much you train for natural disasters, or terrorist attack, because every thing will be different. When and if it happens, you just have to look at what it is, look at what you have to deal with it, stand back and say "this is what we're going to do " you can never plan for everything!
