Im going to apply, the thing is that I live in Ontario, does anyone know a way around going all the to B.C. to write the test? I know it would be worth it, if I got the job, but It doesnt say how many ppl there are hiring,

But if I really want to work there, I guess i would have to go there first, but has anyone heard of any ways to do the test closer to home??

No you will be fine, just phone the chief and tell him you want to work for his dept.Im sure he will be more than happy to forward the test on to you, hell he may even just give you the job straight up.

I was thinking about doing the same with Vancouver,Ill just tell the chief I know two guys from a website they can vouch for me.

Good luck, all your hard work is going to pay off!!

hahahaa, very funny, but I was serious,. I know some tests are good for more than one place, like the CPS test results at Brock, I heard they were good for some places. I was just seeing if anyone knew a way or not, but I no theres not really. Im not to familiar with places in BC, i guess each department just does it own test then.

My understanding is that the list got too depleted, from other departments hiring the guys/gals on the waiting list.

Hey dont worry too much, sometimes the letters come at different times. I live in Colwood, and got mine on Thursday morn. A friend of mine recieved his letter from Victoria about 3 days after everyone else, so he was sweating it pretty bad!! The written is Sept 2nd, so you have a bit of time yet.

Ouch.... that was pretty low (might be true, but still pretty low.... unless you where there scratching your head thinking WTF!!).

Besides, if it wasn't for langford we wouldn't have Home Depot, Future Shop, Costco, Staples, Superstore, A second Walmart, Canadian Tire, Rona, Slegg Lumber, The Brick, most of the improvements to Canwest mall and 3 less Tim Hortons to choose from!

Good luck with Saanich though, you guys. I've done a few calls with them on the Pat Bay and they were great to work with.

Hey there, a lot of the halls in the westshore ie. Langford, Colwood and View Royal have a few-4-8 paid guys in the daytime with the rest of the guys being volys (no paid on call) Langford has 3 halls, so its a pretty big municipality.

I seem to remember 2 years ago they got the results out pretty quick!

Has anyone heard how many they are hiring?

Hey Hey, no mail today, but I would imagine that would be too fast. I havnt heard much about the hiring this year, but I do know a couple guys on the list last year that didnt get picked up this time. They didnt have to write the test tho, just do the physical and they got bumped straight into the interview.

Mrhuckfinn and Jonny,

Are the stages/steps of the physical listed anywhere? I seem to remember the physical was like a modified combat challenge. Any help would be an appreciated!

any of the events timed?

moon1
09-19-2006, 02:58 PM
Very basic, just listen to the procedure they explain to you. Do it the way they show you.

I do not know how they will pick people for an interview. Probably a combined point system!?

Any guesses on #'s going for interviews?

Hey Jonny, sorry to hear :( that sucks. I got a pleased to inform you letter! so I'm pretty stoked. not sure how many are going through to the interviews tho. They must have taken an accumulative score on the dexterity thing, cause I'm sure I messed up on something.
Oh well, the battle continues!! good luck!!

I got the good news letter, unfortunately I have to miss the interview, I will be out of town for work!

What are the chances they would reschedule?

I would most likely lose my job if I did not go.
