Just wondering if anyone out there has some 'real' interview questions, rather that the list of 'sample' questions floating around, that everyone seems to have.
Thanks

Jaime ... in answer to your question, I believe that every city has their own agenda and therefore their own style of questions.
I will only speak for myself in my interview.
The department was very specific on customer service as well as ability to interact well with others. Because it's one thing to have a great resume filled with courses, but it'll show in the interview if you're a loser in the people skills area. You live with the men and women shoulder to shoulder for long periods of time.
I know you're looking for specifics, but when you're in an hour an fifteen minute interview, there are quite a few questions being asked. I'll list out a few, but definitely ask around about questions that the city you're applying to is asking.
Examples:
Why do you want to be a FF?
What steps have you taken to become a firefighter?
What qualities do you have that makes you think you'd be a good firefighter?
List 3 qualities you think a ff should have, and demonstrate how you have at least one of those qualities.
Name 3 personal strengths/weaknesses.
Describe your lifestyle. Eating habits, exercise, smoking, drinking.
*and all the other like questions.
Interaction Questions:
Describe a time when you had a disagreement with a co-worker and what did you do to resolve the issue.
Describe a time when you feel you went above and beyond what your job description entails.
Describe a time when you were involved in an emergency situation and how did you handle it/how did you feel?
Also it's a good idea to know who the fire chief is, the mayor, commisioner, city manager. Also what kind of apparatus the department has, call statistics, major fires in recent history.
I could go on forever, but at least you get an idea of what my interview was like.
NEVER give up trying to get on! It may take a lot longer than some of your friends or classmates, but determination is the KEY!!

**take a course every 3-4 months to show you're still interested. Good luck.

The only book you need is "study guide for the Canadian Firefighter Interview" All the questions listed in the book have been and are still being used by canadian fire departments.

Name a time in your life when you were faced with diversity and what you did to handle it or over come it ?

That book is good but its definetly not all you need. Theres lots of questions I was faced with that werent in that book. For all you know your interview could be them giving you a rope and you tying knots around objects and stuff. Never assume.
