More than 12,000 flee fires

Wildfires that have forced more than 10,000 southern B.C. residents from their homes are rapidly growing despite efforts from hard-pressed firefighters, officials said Sunday. In Alberta, fires forced another 1,000 residents from their homes in Blairmore, a community in the Crowsnest Pass. Although firefighters have made progress in specific areas, new thermal images show that three major fires in the Kamloops area have expanded. The six-day forecast is predicting more dry, hot weather.
