Probably shouldn't be putting this out here. ( internal gov you know.)
A massive search is ongoing since Sat am (26) for an Alberta Forestry Tower Lookout person. I am not privy to many/any details. I have been supplying equipt to people from our district to go to the general location to help in the search. All I can say is RCMP. SAR'S, and Forestry personnel are searching.
Under the present parameter, I will not be expecting a pleasant outcome.

RCMP have just now went from "missing person" status, to "suspicious dissapearance" status. This could indicate 2 legged vs 4 legged animal.

I could have posted earlier, what surprisingly to me, has been made public via the media. I have very close friends on the search, haven't heard from them for 4 days. One searcher yest investigated what he didnt really want to look at, turned out to be a rotten log. As I stated in the thread starter, do not expect a good outcome. Really starting to hit home now, as I supply 5 ladies , in our area, their supplies. all who live alone 24-7. I have been a lookout myself. This tower has now been reoccupied. Can you imagine the internal fortitude this person must have to occupy this tower with what is going on? I CANT! Go_ D_ _ _ 2 legged animals. Wonder how this will impact working alone laws in general, let alone in the bush.

I can't even imagine how hard that would be! I hope that a recovery is at least made! May not be the best outcome, but it would bring a little closer.

What do mean 2 legged animals? You think someone did something to her?

EDMONTON, AB - The daughter of a woman missing from a fire lookout tower is pleading with the public for any information about her mother's whereabouts. RCMP say they believe Stephanie Stewart, who hasn't been heard from in nearly a week, may be the victim of foul play. Stewart's daughter and her husband, who do not want their names made public, made the appeal Thursday at a news conference at RCMP headquarters in Edmonton.Source: cbc.ca (click for full story) (http://www.cbc.ca/canada/edmonton/story/2006/08/31/stewart-family-reax.html)

Hello,
My husband is a firefighter in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. We found this forum through a search for information regarding my aunt.
The search that took place the first week was phenomenal. We are so thankful to everyone who came out to help. By last Saturday the search was reduced to family and a crew of cadaver dogs. We have no new news and are now contemplating arranging a private search. The physical area we would need to cover is overwhelming.
We are sending links to the news stories and especially the following link to the RCMP's article as it has a copy of the missing poster to everyone we can via internet. The more we can get the story out, the better chance we have of recovering Auntie Stephie. She is an incredible woman. She may be 70, but she is going on 30 in youthfulness. For her 70th birthday she climbed Mount Kilamanjaro and I do not mean some cushy tour on the back of a mule. She shouldered her pack & up she went! This is a woman who cycled across Canada, and well, I could go on & on. She is a fantastic woman and we miss her SO much. We are desperate for closure and we will not loose hope. Please keep this incredible woman in your thoughts and emails. The farther we spread the news, the better.

I am very sad for your aunt. If it was near of my home i would be part for the research to help. I wish good luck to find her.
Hello to everyone, I came across this forum while searching for information on missing Stephanie Stewart. I heard about this in the news and followed it on the America's Most Wanted Forums, Missing Persons section as they have a thread with picture and missing flyer etc. I hope and pray that Stephanie Stewart is found soon. I see a member of her family is on here, so many people like myself are wishing her to be found safe, my thoughts and prayers are with you from Toronto.
Positive thoughts and support only

I just came in from a 8 day stint of working a tower. I have to say I locked the door at night this time, whereas I never have before, not that a 10 by 24 foot camp trailer is very entry proof. I know personally that this incident has shaken every one to the core here in the Alberta forest industry.

Nothing new has filtered down to the local ( in my area ) personnell at the lower end of the totem pole. Nothing new in any of the media. If and when anything breaks, I'm sure it will be on a national basis.
