KAMLOOPS -- The provincial and federal governments will wait for a complete assessment of damage in fire-ravaged communities north of Kamloops before announcing any compensation package, Premier Gordon Campbell said Monday. Campbell said the province's first priority is to gather all information about fire damage, including who and what is covered by insurance. "There's no blanket statement we can make," Campbell said, adding that with more than three weeks to go in August and conditions tinder dry across B.C., the over-all forest fire situation is fluid and unpredictable.
