Hey, involved in a volunteer fire department for three years, and am trying to find some good information on training, and preparing scenarios for training nights. Any good sites I can search.

Ahh, that works! Nice site - Out of curiosity, how much did it cost to rig out the wildfire truck ? I bet having that available to you guys cuts your response time down by a few minutes!

Hey,
We have always had a "bush buggy" for grass fires. It was originally a 1/2 ton truck with a pump and old oil tank as a water tank on it. Recently this past year we refitted it to what you see today. Removed the OEM box and replaced it with a 7 ft by 9 ft checker plate platform. Will be building a stainless steel 700 gallon tank and have purchased a new pump for it. We added dual wheels on the rear which will help for traction and control. It carries our wajax pump and all our forestry stuff, including 6 bags of hose with 600 ft in each bag.
So far we have spent over 10 g's to retrofit the truck, but that figure includes $5000 for the pump alone.
We have used it a couple of times in its new form for a couple of fires, and have even used it once to transport a casualty out of the brush after he hit a tree with his motorcycle.

It is a great asset to our fleet as we have the ability to move men, hoses, pumps, etc right to the fires edge and do not have to walk it all in.
