The group representing Ottawa's 900 firefighters says it's being flooded with calls from active and retired members about how pollutants discovered in firefighters' air tanks will affect their long-term health and the possibility of workers' compensation. "People who had health problems such as pneumonia five years ago, and there was no apparent reason for it, now they're looking to see whether it was tied to the air contamination," said Barry Quinn, the Ottawa Professional Firefighters Association's representative to the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.
