First a person must make an application. They are then interviewed by the membership committee this committee then makes a recommendation to our regular monthly meeting. If accepted the new member is placed on probation for up to a year. During which time the undergo a variety of training both in house and through our Provincial fire school as well as other local departments

Well with our dept. you must fill a application , drop it off for the next monthly meeting , get voted in ( which is pretty good ) then you become a member then you must do your training at Fire Etc.. which will give you all of your courses. Then you will show up for everyday calls and of course monthly training and meetings.

New members for Chelsea's FD must fill out application, meet with senior officers and pass basic criteria (good driving record, physically able, resident of community, etc). The file goes to a selection committee which approves the application. Then its probation for a year (but must pay assoc. dues) and gets put in the regular FF training stream. New members can expect to spend lots of time washing trucks and hauling hose.

New members must fill out an application. These are checked by the chief and if he approves then they start showing up to our weekly training meetings. After about 6 to 8 months of probation (unless there is an obvious problem) the officers meet to discuss the recruits and how they are doing and how well they workwith the rest of the team. If all goes well they will then start to be loaded on courses. After about 1 complete year of probation and some basic courses they will then be issued a pager and start working calls as a team member.
