Default Testosterone Replacment Therapy

NFPA 1582- Medical Conditions not accept, 6.22 says chronic or frequent treatment with any of the following or classes of medications. Anabolic steroids is on this list. I have to take an anabolic steroid in testosterone replacement therapy. Am I no longer eligible to apply for a firefighting position?
has anyone come across this issue? or have knowledge on how I can find out?

I doubt very much that your testosterone replacement therapy involves the use of ANABOLIC steroids.

But, perhaps it does.

Older men (not me I swear!) who are allegedly low on Testosterone are treated with......Testosterone.

Long story short, the muscle building characteristics of testosterone were isolated decades ago and these compounds were dubbed "Anabolic" for their muscle building properties.

If you have a legitimate medical condition that requires the prescription of anabolic steroids it would be worth getting a letter from your Dr. explaining that you are under his care. This would also be handy if you were found to be in possession of this illegal drug.

what kind of anabolic steroid are you taking? Are you sure its not just a corticosteroid injection.

And if its a testosterone replacement therapy, are you sure u not just being prescribed something like tribulus terrestris, which is completely legal.

usually for testosterone replacement therapy you get testosterone patches or injectible
test cypianate or enanthate at 250mg per week both are enough to spike your test levels past the normal range even when your test levels are really low the 250mg per week will spike them way above average range....doctors letter might be best!!!
but i dont think this will hinder your chances of achieving your goal in any way

Just to further your point and for those who weren't around during the Dubin enquiry:

After athletes (of various types*) the biggest users of steroids were the police, followed by firefighters.

*track and field - power/weightlifters - bodybuilders

Thanks for the input, I would be very interested in that paper my email is comfy_28@hotmail.com.
I called the calgary recruitment office today and I was told that things are very black and white when it comes to medical clearance, and to take a copy of NFPA 1582 to my doctor to interprit. I am still in the early stages of treating this issue seems a concussion damaged my pituatry gland. I have yet to see the specialist but all the research I have to points to anabolic steroids but hopefully there will be other options then the injections proposed by my family doc. If anyone comes across a similar case let me know.
