These are the medals that a firefighter in The Province of Ontario, Canada would get during their career. The one on the left with the yellow is from the Canadian Government for 20 years, the one on the right with green is from the Ontario Provincial Government for 25 years Exemplary Service. The bars on the ribbons are added for every 5 years of added service after they are originally presented.

I have my 20 yr EMS medal and two old dog tags so I can fit in.

We have two guys in our hall that have hero medals not sure if they are from the provincial or federal gvt.

I recently completed 20 years in the Fire Service. Chief has put in the paper work, and I look foward to receiving my long service medal. In B.C. you require 25 years service to qualify for the provincial medal. I still have a few years to go as some of my service was in the Yukon.

I was recently nominated for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal by my employer. One of the big reasons for the nomination was my years of service as a volunteer fire fighter.

I am attaching a photo of the B.C. Long Service Medal.
