Deputy Chief of Training, Fire & Rescue
The Town of Riverview invites applications for the position of Deputy Chief of Training for Fire & Rescue.
Known as New Brunswick’s largest town, Riverview is a progressive and thriving community located on the south bank of the Petitcodiac River. With its quality lifestyle, it is one of three communities which encompass the region called Greater Moncton. Riverview requires a dynamic individual with demonstrated high standards of personal and professional conduct to join the Fire & Rescue leadership team.
Reporting directly to the Fire Chief, the Deputy Chief of Training is responsible for the development, implementation, organization, and delivery of fire and rescue training for both career and volunteer fire fighters. The Deputy Chief of Training also ensures departmental policies, procedures and guidelines are up-to-date, enforced and communicated to all members of the composite fire and rescue team.
A natural leader, the ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and leadership skills and demonstrate the ability to work effectively and respectfully with career staff, volunteers, and mutual aid partners in order to continue to ensure safety and quality of life in our community.
Position Requirements:
 Successful completion of secondary school/GED plus extensive experience of a progressively responsible nature in firefighting.
 Current certification in the NFPA 1001 Level 1 and Fire Officer Level 2.
 Certified Medical First Responder.
 Certified Fire Service Instructor.
 Minimum of three (3) years in Fire Officer capacity, preferably within a composite department.
 Demonstrated leadership skills, team building, conflict resolution, coaching, and mentoring abilities.
 Experience working in unionized environments.
 Demonstrated time management, organizational, problem solving and decision making abilities.
 Excellent written and spoken English communication skills and strong presentation skills.
 Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
 Valid New Brunswick driver’s license, Class 5E.
 Successful completion of a criminal record check.
