Default CISM Course

If your interested in learning about Critical Incident Stress Management, and how to support other first responders after they have dealt with really challenging calls, then this course is for you.

On May 11th-12th at the Delta Ottawa City Centre Hotel, Ottawa, Ontario
Cost to the public is $300 (before April 11, 2016) $375 after April 11, 2016.
To register please see the brochure at http://skipatrol.on.ca/wp1/wp-conten...016-Ottawa.pdf or cismtraining.ca

Designed to present the core elements of a comprehensive, systematic and multi-component crisis intervention curriculum, the Group Crisis Intervention course will prepare participants to understand a wide range of crisis intervention services. Fundamentals of critical incident stress management (CISM) will be outlined and participants will leave with the knowledge and tools to provide several group crisis interventions, specifically demobilizations, defusings and the critical incident stress debriefing (CISD). The need for appropriate follow-up services and referrals when necessary will also be discussed.

You will learn to provide psychological or emotional first aid for those that may have physical, emotional, cognitive, or behavioral signs and symptoms. Some of the goals of CISM include: mitigate stress, facilitate psychological normalization and set reactions, educate on stress management and coping skills, reduce the sense of chaos, psychological triage and referral if needed.

Brian is an ICISF-approved instructor, CSP CISM team member and was a Pan Am Games medical venue manager. He is also an instructor of the new R2MR Road to Mental Readiness program with the OAFC. for more information please see cismtraining.ca
