Default Paramedic training paying off

QUEBEC - Urgences Santé paramedics-in-training have revived at least 20 per cent of emergency cardiac patients whose hearts had stopped beating, a preliminary study has shown. Under a pilot project launched two years ago, ambulance technicians have been mastering advanced life support techniques. In the past six months, the technicians have been allowed to resuscitate patients in the presence of a doctor riding along with them. Once the project is completed in September, Quebec will become the last jurisdiction in North America to have accredited advanced-care paramedics.
