Port Elgin fire department replaces truck destroyed in crash

[ Back ]

Posted by web-chief on May 1, 2008 @ 7:16AM

Snippet:

PORT ELGIN, NS - The village of Port Elgin recently took possession of its new fire truck, replacing the 1984 model tanker truck that was destroyed in an auto accident in June 2007.
Fire Chief Steve Alward said Monday that the new truck, a combined tanker/pumper, is a 2008 International 4400-diesel model with automatic transmission. It will replace the department’s current first response truck, a 1999 model, for all fire calls. That truck is also designated as the department’s mutual aid tanker and rescue pumper, which is the first response vehicle to all motor vehicle accidents.
“We’ve had several fire calls since the new truck arrived and so far it’s been working great,” Alward said.
