Campbell River firefighters take part in airport training

[ Back ]

Posted by web-chief on Mar 28, 2012 @ 8:06AM

Snippet:

CAMPBELL RIVER, BC - The city's resurrected airport fire truck returned to action last week as part of highlevel fire/rescue training exercises.

The ARF (Air crash, Rescue and Fire fighting) truck, essentially an all-terrain fire truck armed with water cannon, and the airport maintenance workers who operate it, took part in the second round of advanced training offered by the Edmonton International Airport's (EIA) fire rescue team on Friday and Saturday.

Back in June of last year, Campbell River fire fighters had raised concerns that they weren't adequately trained for crash/fire/rescue at the airport, even though the city had discontinued use of the ARF.
