By submitting a news story to Firehall.com, you not only gain potential world wide fame, you also receive $1 credit/post accepted that can be used towards any of the great items found in the Firehall Store. You are also eligible to win $250 credit prizes yearly. A $250 credit will be awarded to the poster with the most stories accepted, and another $250 credit will be awarded in a random draw of posters. Credits can be cashed in at any time and are sent as an electronic gift certificate. Credit can be used to pay for partially or fully for any items found in the store. Before submitting, please review the following guidelines for posting (the required links for posting are listed at the bottom of this page, we recommend that you bookmark them):
- When posting a news story, please only include the first 2 or 3 paragraphs of the article. Do not modify any of the paragraph text, in any way. There is a separate field for submitting your own comments. Again, we must stress, only the first 2 or 3, unmodified paragraphs of the original story will be accepted.
- A source link and name is required. This is the URL (website address) you found the story on and the name of the publishing paper or site. We must link to the story, so print only articles will not be accepted without the permission of the publisher.
- Not all stories will be accepted, here are a few common reasons why a story would be rejected:
- Local calls, unless there is something exceptionally interesting or relevant to fire and rescue nationally. We would flood the front page with stories if we were to allow all calls from all departments. Down the road we may section the news into regions which will accommodate these stories.
- International stories, again, unless there is some interest to firefighting or rescue in Canada
- The story has already been posted. Please check the currently active news stories (here), and the stories currently in queue (here) before submitting.
These are just a few common reasons, we reserve the right to reject any story for any reason. Don't be offended if we don't accept one of your stories. You are free to contact us to ask why it was not accepted, and we may tell you. We also may choose to remove your comments from the post.
- Do not post the story to the forum. The system will take care of that by posting it in the forum under your user name and linking it to the front page story once it is activated. Posting to the forum first is a sure way to mess things up and annoy the admins of this site.
- You receive $1 credit/story accepted for use on the front page of Firehall.com. In some cases, we may only use your post or linked source as an addition to a thread or story already on the subject without posting it on the front page, you will not receive a credit for this use.
