Hey no problems. Glad to help. And yeah I remember getting hired in England. I worked in a shop, needed no qualifications, just applied with the other 3000, did the pre-recruits assessment and was in. And then they trained you. So simple. And that was for a whole county. Basically you get hired then...

So I'm currently in the UK looking to move over to canada and start a new life with my partner I'm currently in the Royal Navy (but will be shortly leaving) and so fully trained (to British standards) on fire fighting and damage control, my question is how likely am I to get a job as a firefighter?...

It's a great idea, but as a working paramedic and aspiring fire fighter I have to say we're a long way from that happening. Not only to most old school fire guys want nothing to do with being a medic, most medics want no part of being under the fire department. Plus there's all the union stuff that...

That statement all leads to one word you wrote "rumour". Thats all that is .. Actually I don't think its a rumour. I've heard people on a couple of departments mention hiring Paramedics. Its apparently cheaper and easier to train a Paramedic to be a firefighter, than it is to take a firefighter and...

Any degree, more and more departments are hiring degree only, or putting it on their list of "nice to haves" NFPA 1001 I an II - Not always needed - Grade 12 often the only pre-requisitie but definiately also on the nice to have list. You can get...

Hey everyone, My apologies if this has been done before, but just thought I'd open a thread about comparing general qualifications & credentials, if people are open to that. I've unsuccessfully applied to a few departments now and would like to compare my resume to others just to see anywhere in wh...

I agree with InfernoBuster look into the Texas courses - mostly online then a few weeks down in Texas. The comment regarding not getting hired out of college refer to kids at 21 etc with zero work/life experience. At 27 that doesnt affect you and you can start applying right now as there are many de...

Thanks DWilliams, That is what I was looking for. I just looked at the results again - 2030 Candidates Lowest Score - 12% 1361 got less than 70% 250 people got above 80% and only 15 people got above 90% So if you can study like crazy and get above 90% you have very little competition. I watched one...

Does anyone know where one could find an approximate curve for the average scores on the CPS tests, more of a curiosity thing just wondering where the average average would work out around and how the rest of the scores would be distributed. Don't know that theres a curve as such. Different depts. ...
