Edmonton 2019

Postby FireTruckDuck » Wed Jul 17, 2019 12:32 pm

Hey ladies and gents,

Pretty much a ghost town on here. How's the process going for everyone?

Any thoughts or ideas on how many will be hired this year? I've heard both that it is a smaller intake and also that it will be larger. Who knows?

I heard 80ish did station assessments.
Has anyone received an email stating something about potentially not having a class next year?!

The station captain I was under said there was 80 people for station assessment as well. And the chief that visited the station stated that he had 60 retirements to fill, this was about a week or so ago.

The rumors I have been hearing is that this is the last big hire year because of the provincial cuts. I have not received any emails about next year's class.

The captain I assessed under told me the same number. A chief who was visiting informed the station that he has 60 retirements to fill, but who knows now with what's going on with budgets and stuff.

Their was an email going around to a few guys, but it was a prank email. 🙄

I've heard their are 2 classes of 30 that will hit their 30 years of service next year. That could be 60 guys you're referring to that need to be replaced?

I'm hoping ranking emails come out Friday, otherwise probably not until after the new year.

I was hoping for the same thing. From what I've read in threads for previous years, we'll hear in the new year.

Here's to hoping the emails come out soon. They came out this time last year.

So with the budget cuts, changes, etc... will there be a class at all this year? Tough to remain optimistic at this point

Too true, I haven't seen any information on how the Edmonton Fire Service was affected by the budget. Has anyone heard anything? Any guesses when we will get word of the Eligibility List?
