18 firefighter LODD

18 firefighters from Prescott Arizona were killed battling a wildfire. Thoughts and prayers to all involved!

Article says 19 now. Anyone know what happened? Were they over run? Tried to use fire shelters? Hard to imagine how that can happen with 19+ there


EDIT: Just saw the video, they were over run and deployed fire shelters but when other firefighters arrived, it was too late.

Hard to imagine losing so many fire fighters and how fast they got overrun.

Oh man, this is awful.

Sincerest condolences to the family and friends involved.

Just terrible.

This is one of the biggest tragedies to ever hit the forest firefighting service, since the 1930's. This is truly awful. Our flags at the department are at half mast today, as well as the majority of firehalls around our country, I would imagine.
