WFX Fitness Blood Pressure

Postby FFF1993 » Wed Jan 06, 2016 10:18 pm

Hi, I have sort of a dumb question. When they take your blood pressure (as is required before the test) will they have larger cuff sizes? My arms are too large for normal cuffs which give me extremely high readings. I'm worried I wont be able to take the fitness test. I assume they would because most people who do this job are physically fit and would probably have the same issue as me, but I was hoping for some clarification.

Thanks in Advance!

I've never heard of anyone having an issue with the BP screening based on cuff-size. It's mandated through CIFFC that a nurse/paramedic/doctor do the testing, so they know what they're doing and will be able to answer your concerns professionally.

There is also a form you can fill out prior preventing your disqualification due to high BP. This has to be signed off by your Doctor but is a good piece of insurance if you're worried about a test-day fail. Get in touch with the agency you're applying to for the paperwork and more information.
