You might not want to have this same sort of attitude in an interview. As a first responder, you take the good with the bad. Some of us have been grinding at this goal for 5+ years. Do you really think COVID -19 is going to be enough for someone who REALLY wants it to go.. “no I’ll wait another 6 months or year.”?

Hearing that most cities are putting any recruitments on hold. More than likely that means this year no one will get hired due to whats going on.

As for someone saying they dont want to be involved in the current crisis, should look elsewhere for a job.

OFAI is good until September. I’m really hoping all of this ends soon and I’m able to get an application in with Toronto.

Any speculation as to if ofai will pause certificates at time of its cancelation or do we collect a tax for donation at the end of the year lol

Hopefully they do something, otherwise once this is over they're going to have a massive amount of people re-booking tests

Good note. I was referring to actually WANTING to be working during this... and I can tell you right now, I bet a lot of first responders although DO work through it, probably aren't too excited about it, lol.

Thanks for the interview tip tho, good note.

Hope you are ready to rebook ..

They are anticipating a 6 month stint of self isolation, and depending on our summer this virus to survive until early 2021.

Has anyone contacted ofai? I didn’t get a chance to before they closed there offices. Would be a kick to the nuts and the wallet if the certificates just ran out like normal.

Ya it would be nice if they extend the current certification, say 3 months??. We’ll have to recert anyways so I’m not as concerned about the money, it’s the log jam of applicants once it reopens. 3 months would give OFAI time to honour the bookings that have been missed so far and ensure current cert holders don’t miss a recruitment once things settle..... just a thought.

Why should I look for a different job because I don't want to risk getting my family sick or worse, including myself? With the current lack of PPE? It's not like fire does much for covid anyways in Toronto.

Please don't speak to which you know not
